Maybe it's that there's a lack of rational political conversation. There are good political blogs, to be sure, but too many partisan blogs seem to be stuck in a rut of sillyseasonitis.

Let's try to avoid that.

Anyone is welcome. Join, post comments, be clever. Be serious. Be rational. If you have criticism, provide a specific complaint, and propose a practical alternative. If you're a Republican, plead your case, but don't use talking points. If you're a Democrat, plead your case, but don't use talking points. If you're an independent, plead your case, but if you're going to say "both sides" are wrong, please back that up with examples.

Check your spelling, unless you're trying to be funny or talking like a LOLcat. Don't engage in ad hominem attacks. Hell, don't engage in any attacks. Show that you're a decent person, and if you're not a decent person, surprise us occasionally. Say please and thank you. Curse as much as you want, but imagine your mother reads your comments. If your mother is salty mouthed, well, you're a lucky person. If you were born without a mother, say by budding, we welcome our new motherless overlords and overladies.

Impress the world. Do better. Be the person your dog thinks you are.
